LaborFestNY - Spring 2010

LaborFest, the international organization of labor activists, scholars, writers, poets & musicians, is coming to New York City! Watch this site for dates and venues. We are bringing together members of the diverse organized labor community, as well as grassroots activists, nonprofit volunteers, artists and writers, and much, much, more.

                  PRELIMINARY LIST OF EVENTS

While still in the planning stage, we will be hosting events around these topics and venues:
  •  Poets of Labor: The spoken word as performance and rallying cry.
  • Labor Artists: Art and Labor Today.
  • Rock the House: Musicians playing and singing for freedom and justice.
  • Telling Labor's Story: Writers of novels, short stories and plays reading and discussing their works.
  • Organizing for Justice & Social Change: Trade unionists, grassroots organizers and nonprofit workers tell how they make a difference.
  • Labor's Past/Labor's Future: With battles lost and won, historians and journalists talk about how organized labor has won its victories and the opportunities for winning new battles.
We look forward to bringing together a mix of trade unionists, artists, musicians, writers and activists as diverse and diverting as New York, labor-themed publishers and booksellers, and many hard working men and women of New York.
